One day someone asked me to take photos of some paintings with frames and then crop the backround.Well the paints were a little bit big and I was shooting with canon 700d with a 18-55 lens and I took the photos at 18mm zoom level.Everything looked ok since I started croping.I was unable to crop precisely and I noticed an arch at the corners. After a lot of researches I found Adobe Lightrom useful to correct disortion. If you shoot RAW Lightrom detects automatically lens type and correct disortion.
What I did next times was setting lens zoom at the middle. For example a 18-55 mm lens is non disorted at 35mm.Set this distance and then zoom in or out with your body.
This kind of disortion happens because of wide angle of camera lens. The exact thing I saw on my Sony Z5 camcorder. I could see arches on building columns. Cant imagine how a football game in stadium could look if a record with the same lens.
