How TV Playlists work.

We have seen on TV different programs, advertising clips, news and other stuff. But how does it works?
Like music playlist softwares there are also video playlist softwares like XTV from Axel, XPlayout, AirBox etc. What this programs do is arranging different video files on pc and sending the output video signal for transmitting. On this software you can monitor audio levels, jump to other video, play, pause etc.
