New Sony A7R III Specs

Inside the a7R III is a 42.4-megapixel back-illuminated full-frame Exmore R CMOS sensor. Despite its high megapixel count, the a7R III is fast with a continuous shooting speed of up to 10fps with full AF/AE tracking — this is twice as fast as the 5fps offered by the a7R II.Using either the mechanical shutter or the completely silent shooting mode, you can capture a burst of up to 76 JPEG/RAW photos and 28 uncompressed RAW files. In live view, you can shoot at 8fps with minimal viewfinder/LCD lag.
The updated BIONZ X processing engine can also process images 1.8 times faster than the a7R II. While a batch of photos is being written to the memory card, many of the camera’s key features are still usable — things like the Function and Menu buttons as well as image playback and organization.
Compared to the a7R II, the new a7R III also features new technologies — a gapless on-chip lens design and anti-reflective sensor coating — to achieve better low-light performance and wider dynamic range. The a7R III features an ISO range of 100-32000 (expandable to 50-102400) and a ginormous 15-stop dynamic range at low ISOs.

The focusing system of the a7R III features 399 focal-plane phase-detection points that span 68% of the image area and 425 contrast AF points — this is 400 more contrast points than the a7R II, which had 25. The result of this upgrade is that the a7R III can lock in focus at about half the time in low-light situations compared to its predecessor, and tracking and Eye AF are 2 times as accurate and effective.
“Additional improvements in focusing flexibility include AF availability in Focus Magnifier mode, focal-plane phase-detection AF support when using A-mount lenses, an ‘AF On’ button, a multi-selector or ‘joystick’ for moving focusing points quickly, flexible touch focus functionality and much more,” Sony says.
On the back of the a7R III is a high-res OLED Tru-Finder viewfinder with 3.686 million dots. It has coatings that reduce reflections and resist dirt and can be toggled between frame rates of 60fps and 120fps.Under the viewfinder is a 1.44-million-dot LCD screen with improved viewing in bright conditions as well as an adjustable quality setting (“Standard” and “High”).In the area of video, the a7R III can shoot 4K video across the width of the full-frame sensor. It can also shoot Super 35mm format with full pixel readout without pixel binning for 5K worth of data and then oversample it for impressive 4K footage.

Video format explained and compared

This article explains main video formats and later compares with photos the quality. Audio Video Interleave (.avi) Developed by Microsoft and released with Windows 3.1 way back when false teeth were still made out of wood, AVI files have been a work horse of digital video. Although its popularity has been waning, lots of legacy video in AVI can be found all over the web. More recently, AVI has been abandoned for Microsoft's WMV (Windows Media Video). One of the most maddening things about AVI today is that the format doesn't allow for specifying an aspect ratio, so a 16:9 AVI video may start displaying at 4:3 - this is less of a problem if your player allows you to manually select aspect ratios. If you're watching in the non-pro version of QuickTime though, you'll have to learn to live with people being unusually narrow. Advanced Systems Format (.asf) ASF is a proprietary Microsoft container that usually houses files compressed with Microsoft's

MPEG 2 vs H264 vs H265

As time moves away,  compression techniques are created.  As a beginning we all have seen an AVI movie about 2 hours and equal to 30-40 GB. After that nee techniques were invented with a main reason : Same quality, less storage.  MPEG group created  some compression  standarts like MPEG1,2 and 4 but MPEG 2 became really  important and is being used in many devices.  What about H264 and H265? Well,  the quality is the same but they use less memory in your disk,  H265 < H264 < MPEG 2. But, is H265 worth? Well the simpliest answer is you but rembere : the higher the compression the higher the export time is. So if you have a powerfull computer use it. But  H265 is new and it is not tested in some devices. The good news is that google supports H265. This format is the greatest solution for youtube videos.
