Albanian Weddings by Fjoralbi Muca

In Albania the weddings start 2-5 days before the ceremony. In this 3-4 days every night, people go to the groom or bride house and they dance, even if they are not invited. This is not a problem because everyone can dance. In these nights people dance traditional dances (this maybe a little bit funny but here people dance mostly two steps forward and two steps backward) this is more a formal dance.I will explain later other dances on the ceremony day.The first day is the wedding of bride mostly in saturday. In the morning the bride gets ready by a single person (make up,dress and hair). This proccess can take more than 3 hours. After getting ready the bride goes to her house and stay there until the start of ceremony.During this time people gather together on restorants but the tables in the middle are removed so people can have a little space to dance. The family members met each person who come in the wedding (about 100-300 persons). After people are sitting the father, grandfather or the aun

Avoiding disortion

One day someone asked me to take photos of some paintings with frames and then crop the backround.Well the paints were a little bit big and I was shooting with canon 700d with a 18-55 lens and I took the photos at 18mm zoom level.Everything looked ok since I started croping.I was unable to crop precisely and I noticed an arch at the corners. After a lot of researches I found Adobe Lightrom useful to correct disortion. If you shoot RAW Lightrom detects automatically lens type and correct disortion. What I did next times was setting lens zoom at the middle. For example a 18-55 mm lens is non disorted at 35mm.Set this distance and then zoom in or out with your body. This kind of disortion happens because of wide angle of camera lens. The exact thing I saw on my Sony Z5 camcorder. I could see arches on building columns. Cant imagine how a football game in stadium could look if a record with the same lens.

How video compression works

What is compression? Compression  is a reversible conversion  (encoding)  of data that contains fewer  bits. This allows  a more efficient storage and transmission of the data. The inverse process is  called  decompression (decoding). Software  and  hardware that can encode  and decode  are  called decoders. Both combined  form a codec and should not be confused with the terms data container or compression algorithms. Lossless compression  allows a  100% recovery  of the  original data.  It is usually used  for text or executable files, where a  loss of information is  a  major damage. These  compression algorithms often use  statistical information to reduce redundancies.  Huffman-Coding [1] and  Run Length Encoding  [2] are two popular examples allowing high compression ratios depending on the data.  Using  lossy compression  does not allow an exact recovery of the  original data.  Nevertheless it can be used  for data, which is not  very sensitive to losses  and which contai

Video format explained and compared

This article explains main video formats and later compares with photos the quality. Audio Video Interleave (.avi) Developed by Microsoft and released with Windows 3.1 way back when false teeth were still made out of wood, AVI files have been a work horse of digital video. Although its popularity has been waning, lots of legacy video in AVI can be found all over the web. More recently, AVI has been abandoned for Microsoft's WMV (Windows Media Video). One of the most maddening things about AVI today is that the format doesn't allow for specifying an aspect ratio, so a 16:9 AVI video may start displaying at 4:3 - this is less of a problem if your player allows you to manually select aspect ratios. If you're watching in the non-pro version of QuickTime though, you'll have to learn to live with people being unusually narrow. Advanced Systems Format (.asf) ASF is a proprietary Microsoft container that usually houses files compressed with Microsoft's

Why I love Final Cut X more than Premiere

Both Adobe Premiere and Final Cut are very popular nowdays. Here are some features that make Final Cut winner. Apple includes in this professional video editing software is the innovative new magnetic timeline. This new take on the old concept of the timeline makes it easier to compose your project because it automatically snaps the clips into place. It also adjusts clips automatically as you move clips around on the timeline. This is great because it reduces the amount of time you spend adjusting sequences by moving one clip at a time whenever you need to insert something new. Another innovative feature is the ability to create compound clips. Simply put, compound clips are sequences that the application treats as a single unit. The advantage of compound clips is that you can move sequences as a single piece rather than one at a time. Heretofore, it was a two- or three-step process to move complicated sequences around, and once you got it just the way you wanted it, moving it p

Why memory capacities are always in powers of two?

This has to do with how memory is adressed. To retrieve or store a word in memory, you needs to specify where to/from. This is called adressing. Memory addresses are binary numbers: using an n-bit address, you can uniquely specify exactly  2 n  memory locations. Thus, choosing a non-power of two as your memory size will result in either wasted space or invalid adresses. For instance, say you choose to go for example for a 43 byte RAM, and assume you address the locations 0 to 42. You can either choose a 5-bit adress, in which case locations 32-42 will go unused (5 bits can address only 32 locations); or a 6 bit address which covers the entire memory but leaves invalid memory addresses in the range 43-64 (6 bits address 64 locations). Thus, since the address space by definition is always a power of two, memory is always rounded out at powers of two to avoid complications.

PC vs Mac video editing

In regards to video editing, there was a time when video editors preferred a Mac computer over a PC.  I’m sorry to break the news to you Apple enthusiasts, but it seems like both platforms are getting the job done equally well these days.  PC processers, operating systems, and hardware are becoming more capable of sustaining the needs for video editors, and sometimes even surpass the performance of Macs.  PDFs are now the standard format for file delivery and Adobe’s editing software, such as InDesign, is becoming increasingly popular compared to QuarkXPress and Final Cut Pro. The fundamental needs of video editing software hasn’t changed too much lately.  Basically, you need a program that can join and trim your shots, add effects and motions, and import sound and video.  And ideally you want this to be done without any lag or interference from the computer. So what it really comes down to is personal preference.  If you are more comfortable and confident using a Mac, then sti

How to improve video editing speed

I have made several researches on what affects on video editing process. I found that first of all affects CPU and RAM.What I saw interesting was disk drive speed.Loading program, metadata, video files, rendering etc takes a lot of time because loading is the process of reading files from disk.An old hard drive reads files slowly and makes editing boring.Well now is invented a new technology SSD.They are amazing, small, faster up to 2gb/s,no noise and last longer.Several tests showed that editing with SSD was better. So upgrade to SSD.

Best software to burn HD video on a 4.7gb DVD

High definition is becaming very popular. You can export it to Blu Ray,USB and other flash devices.Have you ever wandered if you can burn a HD video on normal disks.I have experimented and tested that cyberlink power dvd is the best and fast way to burn video disks.

My top 6 worst experiences on Premiere.

Hello. If you read my previous post you might have laught with my experiences. Now I present my top ten worst experiences using Adobe Premiere. Number 1 When I first used premiere I had In and Out Indicators between clips and I was unable to add transitions correctly. So I applied default dissolve transition and trimmed every clip I mean three hours movie . What a relief when I learned how to remove all idicarors at once. (if you are having a problem like this check my blogg.) Number 2 One day I was working on premiere and after 20 minutes of hard work premiere crashed and I lost what I did for 20 minutes.I fixed this problem by setting autosave project at 2 minutes. Number 3. I record both DV and HDV.I was having troubles capturing a HDV movie because even if my movie project was HD I forget to check HD capture option. If that is not checked a message will appear : Try resetting camera. Number 4 I was editing a movie and I wanted to add some footage but I was unable to add to tim

Pinnacle or Premiere? My video editing story

Hello.I have been editing for 5 years wedding.First I used pinnale studio v11.I needed a montage card to import videos from my camera so someone recommended me pinnacle. At first I had a lot of problems while editing (blank gaps becase I used filmstrip not a timeline lol,I had render problems, capture format etc) Of course these problems happened becase I did knew how to use pinnacle but after one year I became a pinnacle expert,I was able to edit fast, make beautiful videos, footage, add my own effects etc.I upgraded from studio 11 to 14 and later 15.But every version till 18 had a thing in common, problems exporting DVD video, missing audio on export.I fixed these problems using third party programs such nero or power director but my work became growing and I hadnt time to capture import export import again to fix audio problems so I thought to use pinnacle v17.Now I still had Hollywood Fx and a lot of timeline tracks.I was happy but my first problem was video tracks.I edited a 4 hour wedd

How to remove these indicators on Premiere

The way to do this is simply. 1-Select all clips with the Ripple Edit (B). 2-Pres click -1 3-Pres Shift+T them +1 or if you are having troubles watch the video Below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geuwMzdXgEI

What to choose 16:9 VS 4:3

Simply look at the photo above. If you want that your video will be shown a little bit square just use 4:3.This format is usually used on old TV.But nowdays TV or monitors are rectangular which mean the screen is wide. What happens when you show a 16:9 movie in a 4:3 TV? Well this time there will be black lines above and belove the video. But when you play 4:3 on 16:9 black lines will be on the left and on the right of the video.

Exporting a movie to TV

Suppose you want to export a movie to USB or a memory card and you want to play it on your tv.Firstly the are some problems : 1-USB Need to be formated in NTFS format (because it allows files more than 4 gb) 2-Video format is not supported on tv First insert your USB to your pc and format using NTFS file system. Then export your movie as MPEG 2 or 4.Below is a photo of supported file formats. You can use any video converter for movies or just use you video editing software. For example adobe premiere

What is video editing

Video editing is the proccess of choosing best videos, selecting, removing bad clips and adding effects.Video editing can be done with different programs in different OS (Operating Systems).Adobe products are available for both Windows and Mac.Also you can use Final Cut if you are using Mac.These are two professional programs but if you dont find these useful simply search on google and find other programs. Video editing can be done in both:PC and Notebook.Of course there are some requirements for hardware and Software.Remember that a good CPU,RAM and graphic card are the mos important. The role of CPU is to make rendering and the process of editing faster so you dont have to wait while you edit. Also RAM is neccessary for Rendering and Multitasking.More RAM the faster the computer of laptop is.The graphic card outputs the video to the monitor. So the graphic card will not affect the quality of final video, just you see it on that computer by the quality depending on the graphic card.
